Download and restore.OCX Files (ActiveX Controls) for free! Fix windows.OCX errors. Learn how to register MSCOMCT2.OCX file for Excel's Date Time Picker (Calendar Control) for 32 Bit & 64 Bit Microsoft Office Versions on Windows 7.

Question When trying to install ActiveX on a 'locked down' workstation/internet browser will get error: Windows has blocked this software because it can not verify the publisher for appweavercontrols.cab. Company policy prohibit making this a Trusted Site. Answer You can use the NSCabInstaller which is found here by default: c: Program Files Altiris Notification Server NSCap Bin Win32 X86 NS CAB Installer Package AltirisNSCABInstaller.exe When this file is executed on a machine, it drops the required files into c: Windows System32 and registers them. This makes the controls available to all users of that machine. As indicated in the file's path, this method is only supported on x86 (32-bit) platforms.

Some customers have been able to manually register.ocx files on a 64-bit platform by following the information found in the following article from Microsoft:. It should be noted that the NSCabInstaller does not install the 'AppweaverControls.DTpicker' control. To install this control, do the following:. On the Helpdesk server, browse to c: Inetpub wwwroot aspnetclient AltirisAppWeaver 60sp3 lib. Right-click on 'AppWeaverControls.CAB' and choose Explore.

Right-click on 'AppWeaverControls.ocx' and choose Extract. Choose a location to extract the file to and click Extract. Marvel wii games.

Right-click on 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' and choose to Extract. Extract to same location as the AppWeaverControls.ocx file. After copying/pushing these files to a machine, register them (using the regsvr32 command as seen in the example below).

I recommend placing them in c: Windows System32 since the other controls are placed there. If you are pushing the controls out via Group Policy or an Altiris solution, you can make the registration silentl by using 'regsvr32 /s AppWeaverControls.ocx' (without the quotes). IMPORTANT: Administrator or Power User rights are needed to install ActiveX controls on a machine. There are also security settings in Internet Explorer that determine the way ActiveX controls are handled. Please verify that your users have proper rights to their machines and that IE is configured to allow ActiveX controls.

If your environment is locked down, consider pushing out the controls via Group Policy or an Altiris solution.

Windows 8.1 (64-bit) I am trying to add a calendar control to Excel 2013. In this page I have followed a download link which says to save MSCOMCT2.CAB to C: windows SysWOW64 I have saved it to my desktop and then copied it to C: windows SysWOW64 and when I double click on it I get 2 files (.inf and.ocx). The instructions just say 'after registering” (whatever that means) and not a lot more. I double click on the.ocx file, it asks where I want to “extract” the files to. I select the same folder, and a “save” window opens. I click on the save button but I get an error 'access is denied' I am not familiar with this process and would appreciate step-by-step instructions.

Tomohawk: The instructions just say 'after registering” (whatever that means) An OCX file is a special type of DLL file, called an ActiveX DLL. ActiveX DLL’s need to have a registry entry created to associate the program classes inside the DLL with the physical location of the file. This way, when a program tries to invoke something like “SomeCompany.CalendarControl”, Windows knows that the class “SomeCompany.CalendarControl” is in that OCX file. To make this link, you need to use regsvr32. Click Start and type CMD. click the “cmd.exe” or the “Command Prompt” icon.

in the command prompt:. type cd c: windows syswow64 and press ENTER. type regsvr32 mscomct2.ocx. if this completes successfully, you can close the window., you almost got it right, but missed changing to the syswow64 folder. As an optional step, you can associate regsvr32 with OCX files, so that double-clicking them registers them. (this also works with ActiveX DLL’s, too.) If you’re only doing this once, don’t bother with these steps. Right-click the OCX.

click Open With. find regsvr32 in the Windows system32 directory. Make sure to check the box to make this default action. (I think it now says “use this app to open all OCX files”) After that, double-clicking an OCX file will register it with regsvr32.

Thanks for the support guys. Sorry to labour the point, but as I said, I need my hand held. The replies below mention “the file” and this is where I’m getting confused. Here is where I am at present:- In the windows system SysWOW64 is a file named MSCOMCT2.CAB (this is clearly wrong, if I read you correctly). I also have this file in a temporary folder on the desktop.

I don’t know what that file is, but when I double-click on it, I get 2 new files (like it has automatically unzipped???). When I leave the folder on my desktop, it appears to “re-zip” back to the.CAB file.

I would be really grateful if we could start here and do a step-by-step:-. Delete MSCOMCT2.CAB from the windows system SysWOW64 folder. Double click on the MSCOMCT2.CAB in the desktop folder. The instructions need to end at the point where I can now see Windows Common Controls-2 6.0 in the Developer part of Excel. Thanks in advance for your continued support.

I think Windows is opening the CAB file contents in a window, the same as if you opened a.ZIP file. Opening the window doesn’t extract the files; it just shows you the CAB’s contents. You need to copy the.ocx file out of the CAB and somewhere useful. This should do the trick:. Delete the extra copies of your CAB file, keeping only the one you initially downloaded.

Double-click the CAB file. This should open a window with the.inf and.ocx files.

Drag the.ocx out of the window and on to the desktop. Close the CAB window.

Drag the.ocx to C: windows syswow64. Follow the steps from my previous post to register the.ocx file.
