PRES Associates, an independent research firm, conducted a longitudinal randomized control trial (RCT) study to assess the effectiveness of enVisionMATH in helping students attain critical math skills. The study was designed to address all standards and criteria described in the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Study Review Standards. The study commenced in 2007–08 with 2nd and 4th grade students and followed these students into 3rd and 5th grades in 2008–09. Strengths: EnVision Math is developed to be adapted to multiple grade levels. There is a different program for each grade- Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. This way, a school can purchase the programs they need depending on what grades are in the school. It is also provided in both English and Spanish, allowing multi-lingual schools and ELL students to fully participate in the program throughout their schooling, even if they are not in a regular education classroom during their earlier years.
EnVision also includes a number of accommodations and recommendations for teachers in case their students are falling behind. It provides activities for students in special education, ELL students, and gifted and talented students. It allows teachers to provide individualized attention and instruction based on a student's level of understanding.
Weakness: Weaknesses of EnVision Math program are mostly based on a school's finances and resources. There are many different components to the program (technology, manipulatives, etc.) that are all sold separately from the company.
If the school does not purchase all of the components, the students are not experiencing the full program and only benefiting from the worksheets and lessons from the teacher handbook. The lessons are highly reliant on the technology aspects, so if a school is not equipped with the proper technological advancements in the classroom, they cannot participate fully with the instruction or practice on the concepts. EnVision Math Training There are a few options for teachers who want to learn how to use the EnVision Math program. The program has multiple training opportunities in order to accommodate all teachers.

It has a face-to-face program training where consultants work with the teachers to provide different classroom management techniques and strategies on how to assess and analyze the students' work. Pearson also gives online training services where there are self-paced modules and instructor-led 'webinars.' Teachers can train on the website at anytime and personnel is available every dayto contact with questions or recommendations. Pearson's objective is to allow all of their teachers to be trained at their convenience and have accessibility to resources and information whenever needed. Final Reflection on Specialized Program Sharnice- As a first year special education teacher, i would use this program because it is beneficial to the students. I feel like its a good program when not only the special education teacher says something good about the program, but also the students, which are the ones who are benefitting from the program.
I like the program is a progression program and that it has accommodations for students that need it. I like the idea that the program is new because the research done on students are up to date. Emilyann- This program seems very easy to use as a first year special education teacher, or any teacher for that matter. All of the materials are included and each concept and lesson can be put into practice with very little preparation. The book and worksheets are very colorful and student-friendly.
I like how each chapter includes a variety of practice problems that give the students a chance to engage their problem-solving strategies, because this is a very important skill and makes each problem relevant. Because this program is so new, it is full of extra technology items that can be used to reinforce what the students are learning in a different medium, which is always an important aspect when teaching students with special needs. I would probably use this program for my students, but would need to keep an open mind about adapting certain parts of it to meet the ever-changing needs of my students. Katie- This program seems very accessible and interactive for both students and teachers.
It really focuses on building upon the students' prior knowledge and working with manipulatives and technology. I especially like the problem of the day, because it allows each student a basis for the lesson, and accountability to complete the problem at the start of each day. It usually includes concepts they must know prior to completing that day's lesson. It seems to have a strong curriculum based on state-wide standards that are often covered in nationwide testing.
I like the amount of student involvement incorporated in the lessons and how they are given the opportunity to do work individually and in groups. I think a lot of the lesson are adaptable and can be modified to fit the needs of a particular classroom. It seems like a strong program with a lot of potential for success for all students.
