Hi I'm trying to install additional voices for Windows 7 narrator and other Text to Speech Programs. I have downloaded and installed this: and then few of these: (I am using Windows 7 64Bit Ultimate on a desktop PC) But I am not able to find the option to use these newly instlled voices for text to speech. Do I have to install something else?

I would greatly appreciate your help. I have looked through these, But they didin't help me. I hate to start this thread back up, but I've viewed over 75 different threads on this subject and only found one that might help.but it requires editing my registry, so.thanks, but no thanks. Has anyone looked into this at all? Found any solutions?
I've tried everything listed above and in several other threads, so any thoughts would help. I'm also running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit. I've tried looking at both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the cpi, but neither of them have the voices in the drop down. One post mentioned that you need to install the voices somewhere specific, but the installers don't give you an installation location option and I was unable to edit the installer. Any support on this would be most appreciated. I only ever managed to get SAPI5 voices to work in Windows 7.
Also I prefer Text To Speech software over MS Narrator. I have never managed to find any quality free SAPI5 voices other than those listed unded 'Voices Download' here: - only the RealSpeak voices.

If so, did you run into any issues during the process?
I'm VERY hesitant to edit my registry, but if that's what needs to be done and there is no other option.No I didn't edit the registry to get them to work. I tried SAPI5and SAPI4 voices from links posted here: The SAPI4 voices were okay but not as good as SAPI5 so I removed them then hunted around for other free SAPI5 voices without any luck so if you find any let us know. You would also need the SAPI4 and SAPI5 speech engines from links on the same page.

Sound & Audio My 5.1 sound system works fine with all sound applications that I have tested except the text-to-speech program. When I run text-to-speech the narrator will read the text, but I only hear a faint muffled voice coming from my center speaker and subwoofer. I have checked all sound settings that I can. Just use the tutorial on:!!!WARNING!!! This involves manual edits to your registry. If you mess it up, don't blame me.

Step 1 - Install the Speech Platform v11 a) go here: b) click 'Download' c) select the 'x64SpeechPlatformRuntime SpeechPlatformRuntime.msi' d) run the installer (duh:P) Step 2: - Get the alternate voices a) go here: b) click 'Download' c) select the voice files you want. Save this file to your desktop as voices1.reg so it will be easy to find later. B) Under - HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Wow6432Node Microsoft Speech Server v11.0 Voices - right click 'Tokens' and again export it, again to the desktop.
Call it voices2.reg. Step 4: - Edit the voices1/2 files a) open Voices1.reg in Notepad. B) press 'cntrl + H' c) enter Speech Server v11.0 into the 'Find What' field d) enter Speech into the 'Replace With' field e) click 'Replace All' f) Save File g) Repeat a-f with the Voices2.reg file Step 5: - Merge the new Registry files into your registry a) double click to 'run' both Voices1.reg and Voices2.reg b) Click 'Yes' when it prompts You should now have access to the new voices in Voice Attack, and in the Windows TTS options menu. This process may also work with other voice packs.
