- The Prophet Muhammad. I found this book very impressive, and concise. John Adair did a really good job in collating some of the most important points about leadership and using the prophet as a fine example. It was really interesting reading the stories of Muhammad (pbuh) and highlighting all the positive leadership aspects, even more so was the fact that things that applied thousands of years ago still apply today. A lot of the points made in the book are things that all of us know and should be acting upon, however I found this book very impressive, and concise.

A lot of the points made in the book are things that all of us know and should be acting upon, however it's always good to remind yourself of these things so take it as a refresher, if anything. This book will definitely point any aspiring leader to the right direction, in fact, even parents could learn a lot from this book. I finished reading it in one sitting, and walked away feeling inspired. One of the points that resonated with me most was the idea of leading by example, something that is truly lacking today. Very well written book, in clear, simple English.
I can guarantee you there are many lessons to draw from this read and it is well worth the money spent on it. As a Muslim, I grew up being taught of the perfection of this great man. And always, all the accounts of him, being narrated by Muslims, are naturally very compassionate of him. However, the author of this book, totally lacked that love of the man. But it's not a bad thing. In fact, it was a refreshing perspective. A perspective that was devoid of love for the Prophet but at the same time, managed to paint the man as THE model of a leader.

Also, doesn't matter if you're a Muslim or not, this book highlights so many tips on leadership which are relevant and applicable in the olden days until now and for the future to come. In fact, this tips would be useful even for daily face-to-face interactions. Verdict: Must read. A light small book yet a treasurable one that is well and eloquently written. It sheds light on prophet Mohammad as a leader, a shepherd and above all a human being.

It's fun to read and quite informative as you find different quotations from different people from different nations through different eras. I loved how the writer keeps on including Arabic words as well as Greek ones and others and adds its meaning which adds to the whole context of narration. I had high expectations for this book after listening to a talk by the speaker introducing it and also receiving recommendations from friends who had read it before me. Reading it however I couldn't help feel a little disappointed.
It's a small book (this I knew before I bought it) and even then the mention of The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his examples of leadership are few and far between. Each chapter (there are eight) takes one concept of leadership exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad and elaborates on why it is important and how particularly it ties to the Bedouin/Arabian society that the Prophet Muhammad lived within. Overall, great idea for a book and not a bad book, but not quite living up to its potential (and my expectation).
I bought this book with a lot of excitement but I was disappointed in the beginning, while reading the first 2-3 chapters I felt that the writer kind of deviated in describing too much about other topics which were not related to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and in some chapters he barely mentioned anything about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). At the end of every chapter he added some bullet points as 'key points' but I think those were just some quick recaps without any detail analysis.

We could see from the mid of the book he did actually start to write more about the Prophet (PBUH) but those were just incidents from his life but lacked any sort of detailed leadership analysis. At the last few chapters the writer kind of accelerated its writing pace and were just going over things. Overall in my opinion I would strongly suggest anyone to read a full biography of Muhammad (PBUH) prior to reading this book (the writer does provide a short Biography at the end of the book but that wasn't enough).
Secondly, this book is a good read as it does highlight a lot of incidents during the Meccan and Medina era and also gives an idea about the bedouin life of the arabs, but it may not be worth purchasing it in order to understand the leadership of the Prophet(PBUH). I would rate this book with two stars. Most inspiring part is relating the art of shepherding to the leadership and it's impact on the life of Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Interestingly i had a chance of meeting a person familiar with shepherding while reading the book, i was amazed to know that often sheepherders even have names for each and every sheep and they exactly know the strengths and weakness of every individual. The important lesson for leadership while seeing the bigger picture never forget the individual needs. I will say that this book was well researched and well written. I've always wanted to read these books by non Muslim authors about our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and see where they stand & what they have to say. I didn't like this book in particular for several reasons. For starters, he did not talk a lot about the life of the prophet, most of the stories were very shortened that they lost their beauty. But generally speaking,it was a good book.
